For all locals from Ross On Wye UK, you are about 20mns away from the Doward camp site overlooking the so named King Arthur’s caves system above the River Wye gorge. On the other side of the river is the famous Symonds Yat lookout point.. Millions must have visited and/or explored the steep valley with caves and tunnels either side. There was even a TV collaboration with Time Team for the large (Merlin’s) cave a few years ago.
Limited archaeological excavation has taken place throughout the area but enough to determine that it was home to a large community during Palaeolithic times beyond 10.5K years ago. At that time we were host to many exotic animals which are now extinct. Woolly mammoth, elk, sabre tooth tiger, bears, beaver, hyena, and many more species coexisted with local people, no doubt always in competition for food.
The winding River Wye, more elevated then, would have been the focus for food and navigation. The rock art drew my particular interest a couple of decades ago out of discoveries I made under the Giza Plateau, Egypt. I have always been a fanatical independent researcher into our ancient roots. I discovered accidentally, the rock surfaces were covered with quite exquisite and mysterious illustrations. After more than 10,000 years, they have faded from normal sight. However through ultra–high definition digital photography and analysis, it is possible to recover many of these illustrations.
I had similar interest to understand ancient origins near my home in Ross On Wye and applied the same technique. I found to my amazement the River Wye valley rift and the cave systems also have rock walls covered in mindboggling ancient illustrations. From correspondents around the world sharing material I have found over 80 world locations where similar illustrations exist.
The implication of course is that from the visual representations of the artists we can see exactly what they saw or imagined. It is a direct line to their consciousness. This is how they recorded their world; their life; their ideas; their beliefs, in candid and highly skilled rock illustrations.
However for analysis each target photo has the potential for infinite settings to get the optimum recovery. There are always so many more rejected photos than the ones which give a working result.
The recovery process is exhausting, taking sometimes hours for a good target. The variables are infinite. The optimum results for final selection from each batch after 10,000 years of wear and tear are not Rembrandt quality, but their detail is astonishing. I whittled this current batch to around 80 from more than double the amount.
Analysis takes sometimes hours. It is done on a laptop sized screen. The recovery work is often down to single pixel size from High/ Ultra High definition photographs, which means that visitors have to examine these results on a laptop at least along with the ability to enlarge each frame more to see what they show…
It is hopeless to try and examine the illustrations on a small smart phone screen..
Best advice when looking at each frame is to train your eyes to go into a deeper focal point than just the flattened picture. Also consider this fact :: It takes take the barest minimum of a few minutes to examine each frame properly to become a detective with the content. The artists did not memorialise their world for a descendant today to dismiss their skill while glancing for a couple of seconds at a postage stamp representation of their original work.
After spending weeks to work on a big batch like this I will be eager and grateful for any and all serious feedback.. Please look to my side notes with most pictures. They give you a starter to what is shown in each frame. Thanks each and every one of you to give my work a chance.
I hold every original picture and through picture coding I can match every picture with location.
At least locally like with Giza, this should be an opportunity for Ross On Wye to show the staggering ancient heritage which is almost unknown and has barely been harvested. These Walls of Record offer a non invasive method which would enable anyone to become a Time Team sleuth; and add another level of fame to our whole geographical area. This large picture gallery represents probably three wall–to–wall weeks of analysis. I just hope some interest will be generated from locals of today for sensible feedback. Our ancestors await our attention.
PS to note : please I need urgent help with interpretive feedback, not suggestions to say what the frames >look like< as opposed to what they >actually show< and their potential meaning or purpose. The last 20 years have taught me how to eliminate Pareidolia so now from the examples offered I ask you please to be reassured. I have examined each of the frames through probably dozens of masks. I have the benefit of that process to say with complete confidence I show you only definite material and questions regarding the artist’s motivation.
One last thing to say::
This time you will see I added a technique of silhouetting the main feature of many frames in order to remove the confusion of colour bleed, and to make those frames tidier to examine. Potentially this could make someone feel they are artificial. That is not the case. It’s just a now method I introduced to show the pictures for those who have yet to re–train their processing eyes. (I hope to give each frame some good side notes to help with the investigation.

The picture above by the way is/was covered extensively on my FB page and is mentioned again here, further below.
Now we come to the gallery (with some notes) …..View Big Screen.
Allow a few seconds for your eyes to passively identify the focal depth of the study
Note any interesting frames, and please feed back.
Note the Hobgoblin type man in the photo above, I found him in a high, small fissure which had been uncovered by perhaps rodents. It was clearly an icon of about 150mm in height, completely hidden within the depths of the fissure chamber. I had been drawn to the hole also because I spotted some illustrations on the rock within the fissure. I captured those and relocated the man before using handy boulders to conceal the hole again. However on one of the large loose rocks I spotted the following…
See two pictures below, before and after analysis. There is a complex illustration on the surface. Enlarge them to see easily. The first picture shows its raw state and the second picture following some time in analysis.
Original, clearly then was part of a much larger illustrated panel. I left this in place but within just a few weeks and on a return visit, I discovered the stone could not be located.

The worked version next awaits a lot more detailed restoration.
However even at this stage it is highly intriguing. On the left background a huge globe has been used as an information backdrop. Top left the head of a figure is emerging behind the globe while below there is a colourful ape like figure surrounded by an absolute tangle of other activity. On the right, right of centre a clear reptile head and part body is there, looking somewhat like a Kimodo Dragon.
I have already noticed …..if the picture is rotated clockwise by 90* the right hand half of the illustration seems quite clearly to depict a mass of activity on and around a passenger ship. There is so much more there to be extracted, I will spend much more time on the illustration and feed back again later.

BELOW:: I photographed the panel of rock a dozen times before, but this study is from the main lower cave in bone dry conditions.

Below:: In this image seemingly not a lot to go on at first sight. But, let us consider:
Big stout man (L/ hand) associated with a smaller pink theriomorphic figure+ another 3 more obscure figures. Now very strange the central big dark figure seems stout, but notice he has a light star headed figure tucked within his breeches along with other tiny figures. Otherwise to the centre right and lower right there is a mish mush of further small animal creatures.

See extended description below for the following pic.

I have a particular interest for the location above because the rock feature is spectacular and along with its multiple illustrations clearly shows a leading location and camping protection…
Note water flowing on the left. On the right under a huge rock overhang there is a camping spot marked by a campfire with several figures sitting around. Deeper right, into the gloom one boat can be discerned. Another boat seems to be berthed alongside the camp area and another boat showing almost white in outline above the purplish water. Strangely also there is a faint scene which can be discerned in light purple in the air above the water. It is possible to discern figures within the illustration of the water.
Much larger and colourful characterised figures are painted above the fire on the overhanging rock slab. The painted characters are not randomly painted. They are staged within cameo scenes which I have captured and analysed separately… This location I believe is very significant at the head of the whole living cave system and I believe it was a guard area for anyone wishing to descend into the community from its Northerly approach.
I have a whole folder capturing this important location from all angles and times of day or night. I am of no doubt there is a ton of hitherto lost history still to be extracted.
I wonder what was intended in the next illustration…..
Don’t forget I got all of these from natural rock surfaces at the Doward. The artists were intentional, talented, and focussed to memorialise some kind of happening or event in their time.

This next target will mess with your head! It is very busy, but what does it depict?

The picture below is quite a brain puzzler. There is so clearly some kind of big event in progress. The artist probably captured it really well but what?
It is absolutely bursting with action.
On the right in the background it shows some kind of strange vehicle. On the left there are sandy cliffs, but from them theriomorphic figures are emerging. All attention is on the vehicle in the right hand background even though it looks like it has been in a war. See what you can discern. What ancient event does it memorialise? Zoom right in. The detail is incredible but you really do have to zoom in. I did the best I could but even at single pixel size it is not small enough for some of the action. Can you read what is happening ?

The next sequence of illustrations are visually clear…. But what do they represent?

The next series were all from different locations within a half mile area and the cleaned parts of the illustrations were just as busy, but not so explicit.

Now another series, much more diverse. Comment on any that catch your eye.

Some narrative here ::: This scene is rotated 180 degrees because I captured it as an illustration on the internal roof of one of the caves. I saw immediately there was likely an illustration but what I found was amazing. After rotating, mid left there is a skeletal figure laying, propped against a rock. He appears to be wearing a see
through space helmet. He is resting partly on a sledge which appears to be laden wiith some dogs…. Down lower on the right hand side there is a huge jumbled pile of goods and maybe robotic parts. I’ll leave some excitement for you the viewer to find.

The next two studies are included to really test your powers of observation. They are pictures of an army, or hoard, or rabble in full animation.

One feature of these illustrations which just adds to the intrigue is that some of them were created deliberately with the ability to form a picture through 90 degree opposing perspectives. It really is quite amazing to see…. Here is one example::
On the way down to the cave system, there is an early feature which has a trumpet shape hollowed from the rock. On approach there are rough cut steps in the rock which give access to a hole at the narrow end. At the other end the large trumpet opening of the feature lines up with two subsequent cave entrances. This whole feature has deep meaning and purpose which I will deal with as a separate item.
However for now on the subject of illustrations>>> This specific feature is loaded with multiple illustrations and carved features. One observation is in the following picture viewing into the trumpet end of the opening. Examine the minute detail of the picture and you will see how it contains many illustrations.
However following the next picture I show the same picture but this time rotated 90 degrees. Do you see how another completely different picture is revealed this time in the study of a little girl. I have shared below 3 pictures cropped from the original and rotated, just to give full perspective..
The large version of the whole feature from the trumpet shaped end clearly allows the eyes to pick up on the detail (which would all have to be recfovered for best effect. That would / will involve a week of dedicated hours at the screen.
.The side access opening by the way is from where the slash of greenery shows on the left hand side. There are many other features but I will deal with them all as a separate study.

Now a crop of the lower part and rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Do you see the little girl?

Just for something different, there is one cave entrance nearby. Take a look at the following two pictures of its entrance. Look closely to the illustrations on its surrounding surfaces.

As we venture close to the detail of the entrance this is some of the detail Look well, and spot the figures illustrated on the internal walls.

And on this presentation I have one further surprise. There is one place ten minutes from the road and the large campsite, where the cliff holds a disguised slab, which I believe firmly is a huge concealed door. I don’t think anyone (out of the know) would be able to discover it.
Similar in Egypt drew my attention to it, and at some stage perhaps I will garner enough interest from the archaeological community to put it to the test. For now following the vandalising abuse and theft by probably one person following my previous revelations, I have been very careful to be vague about exact locations. I hope also visitors to the are will keep a keen eye out for abuses or vandalism and immediately inform the police….
For now thank you for your interest and good hunting.
Please message me first via my FP page. Thank you — Richard Gabriel Sept. 2026

See the believed secret slab entrance below, There are several features I recognise from Egypt

That’s it for now folks with this collection. On the Palaeolithic River Wye site the rock walls are saturated with illustrations just like in Giza Egypt…. It is an eyewitness history of our rooted ancient past, and a tragedy that it has not been picked up for investigation by the media and Archaeological experts. I hope this effort (this one of nearly 3 months) – will stir someone somewhere to do more.
Just to say also. The preparation from finding these targets in the field to going through the analysis process, and making the material fit for presentstion tests the body and mind to the limit. I am backed up with an absolute mountain of solid evidential material from Giza and from The Wye valley. This medium has to justify the effort I put into it.
Since first discovering the hidden illustration phenomena nearly two decades ago, I took it upon myself to try and awaken the public to this untapped source of eye witness ancient history which anyone could find. So far however although there are a band of dedicated followers who correspond, the lack of real interest or engagement is staggering.
If from this presentation effort there is no change in interest I will go dark from public completely, and concentrate only on converting it all to book form for posterity, or until the climate changes to where the walls of record are finally recognised and pursued.
Please anyone with feedback of any kind – write to me initially via my dedicated FB page.
Thank you for following me on the journey so far.
